Mary's Story

Mary Chervinko passed away peacefully in her home in Sharon at 9:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, 2017, following a lengthy illness. She was 93.
She was born on July 15, 1924, in Kluknava, Slovakia, to Joseph J. and Sophia Lovas Richnavsky Sr. In June 1938 she immigrated to the United States.
Mary married her husband, Robert G., on May 20, 1949. He survives at their home.
She was a member of the former St. Ann Parish and currently Our Lady of Fatima Parish, both in Farrell.
She was a graduate of the former St. Ann Grade School in Farrell. She had worked at the former Sharon Ordnance Plant in Farrell; Packard Electric Corp., Warren, Ohio; Ideal Bakery in Farrell; and Sawhill Tubular Co., Wheatland.
Mary enjoyed traveling to various casinos with her family. She was a member of the Catholic Sokol Wreath 29 of Farrell and the former St. Ann Church Altar Society.
Besides her husband, Mary is survived by two daughters, Frances Chervinko, at home, and Nancy (David) Reed of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters, Anna Tomczak in Gaithersburg, Md., and Sophie Richnavsky in Hermitage; a brother, Joseph J., in Hermitage; two grandchildren, Tim (Jennie) and Christopher Reed; and a great-great-grandson, Benjamin.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Chervinko, and a sister Zofia Richnavsky in Slovakia.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday (11-13-17) at the A.E. PUSTINGER FUNERAL HOME Ltd., 1310 Idaho St., Farrell.
Services: Brief prayer service at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (11-14-17), followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. Matthew J. Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial: St. Ann Cemetery, Hermitage.
