Mark John Puhak, 67, Overland Park, Kans., passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2017, following a four-month battle with colon cancer.
Mark was born Sept. 24, 1949, in Sharon to John and Mary Puhak.
He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1967.
In his early days, he was employed at Sharon Steel.
He graduated with a degree in industrial engineering from Youngstown State University.
After college, he relocated to the Kansas City area, and worked many years in sales.
Mark was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend.
He was an avid traveler, visiting Europe four times, enjoying many cruises, experiencing new foods and cultures, and visiting various amusement parks.
He loved Kansas City sports, KU basketball and managing and coaching his daughters' softball teams.
He enjoyed entering contests and raffles.
He always had a smile on his face and was ready to crack a joke.
He was drafted into the U.S. Army, driving an ambulance during the Vietnam war in Germany.
Mark is survived by his wife of 38 years Debbie (Boehm); daughters, Mandy (Devon) Thompson and Alexa (Nik Bentzinger) Puhak; siblings, Pat (Rosina) Puhak, Donna (Frank) Kushner, Bill (Janet) Puhak, Mary Ann (Ivan) Green and Ken (Cece) Puhak; two grandchildren, Reed and his future sibling; and his 14 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
