Marilyn's Story

Marilyn L. Dickey, of Sharon, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, in the emergency room of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. She was 69.
Marilyn was born in Sharon on Nov. 16, 1947, the daughter of the late Stanley Buchanan Sr. and Helen (Bergstrom) Buchanan. She was a 1965 graduate of Sharon High School and served her country in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1969.
She had worked as a cook at various area restaurants. Marilyn was a member of the Shenango Valley VFW Post 1338 and the Sharon American Legion Post 299. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Sharon First United Methodist Church.
She married Willie P. Dickey on March 29, 1969. He survives her at home. Also surviving are her two daughters; Sonya McClimans of Greenville and Chrissi Belotti and her husband, Bob, of Masury; her grandchildren, Cassie Sherry, Joshua "LT" Thompson and his fiancee, Cassie Porterfield, and Kevin Thompson and his wife, Sierra; two great-grandchildren, Camden and Addalyn Thompson; two sisters, Carol Ligotti and her husband, Joe, of Youngstown, Tracy Buchanan of Oceanside, Calif.; and three brothers, Carl Buchanan and his wife, Teresa, of Bristol, Tenn., Donald Buchanan and his wife, Carol, of Sharon, Leslie Buchanan and his wife, Nancy, of West Middlesex.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Cheryl Buchanan, and her brothers, Stanley "Skip" Buchanan Jr. and Kenneth Buchanan.
