Marie L. Jakubec, 72, of Hartford, passed away Monday, Oct. 2, 2017, at Sharon Regional Hospital, Sharon.
She was born Nov. 28, 1944, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Andy and Louise Kocis.
She been a lifelong Trumbull County resident.
Marie was a 1962 graduate of Joseph Badger High School.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kinsman, where she was part of the family life committee, served on the Parish Council, was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, served on the funeral dinner committee and was a Eucharistic minister.
Her first job was a switchboard operator in Orangeville. She then went to Cleveland Brass in Kinsman and to Packard Electric for about two years. She returned to work in 1977 as a full-time mail carrier out of the Fowler Post Office. She carried mail for 17 years. She was postmaster at the Farmdale Post Office for a couple of years and returned to the Fowler Post Office to finish her 30-year career as postmaster.
Marie enjoyed sorting mail, both at home and at work. She also enjoyed collecting stamps, gardening, canning, cooking, going to casinos and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren..
A Cub Scout den mother, she was very actively involved in her children's school activities through their college years.
After Marie retired, she became an avid Cleveland Indians fan and was very involved in church activities.
Surviving are: her husband of 52 years, Ronald Jakubec; three daughters, Suzanne Jakubec and Amy (Matthew) Ryser, all of Garrettsville, and Pamela Jakubec of Hartford; a son, Ronald (Elizabeth) Jakubec Jr., of California; her grandchildren, Andrew, Kathryn, Matthew, Megan, Jacob, Joseph, Nicholas and Samuel; four sisters, Sandra (Jess) Maybee of Hartford, Carolyn (Pete) Berecek of Brookfield, Elaine Kocis of Howland and Norma (Allan) Palm of Cortland; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday (10-6-17) in GALLOWAY-ONSTOTT FUNERAL HOME, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford, preceded by the recitation of the Rosary at 3:30 p.m.
Service: Mass of Christian burial at 11 a.m. Saturday (10-7-17) in St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6397 state Route 87, Kinsman, preceded by closing prayers at 10:15 a.m. in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.
Burial: Follows in All Souls Cemetery, Cortland.
