Margaret J. "Peg" Puklavec, 90, formerly of Liberty Township, Mercer County, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at Windy Hill Village, Phillipsburg.
Peg was born in Joffre (Smith Township, Washington County) on May 19, 1927, to Louis and Antonia Lira Nicoletto.
She married Charles Angelo Puklavec on June 13, 1946. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1976.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a nurse's aide for six years until 1975 at the former Bashline Hospital in Grove City.
She was a member of St. Peter Roman Catholic Church of Slippery Rock and its Christian Mothers and was a former member of the church's Blue Army.
Peg wanted everyone to know "she is no longer looking for an eligible bachelor." She always wanted to be a comedian and make people laugh. She enjoyed going out for potato pancakes, and loved the staff at Perkins, where she was known as "The Pancake Lady." She loved cooking and often fed people who stopped by.
Survivors include: her son, Charles A. Puklavec of West Newton; two daughters, Charlotte A. Tatum and husband, Henry A., of Coalport; and Mary Ann Haverlack of Cranberry Township; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sisters, Angelina Sansone and Alice Passami; and three brothers, John, Louis "Jim," and Severino.
Memorial contributions may be given to Meals on Wheels or St. Peter's Christian Mothers.
