Mamie's Story

Mamie Combine "Minnie" Marcella, 93, of Farrell, died of a sudden illness on Saturday (July 29, 2017) at Sharon Regional Health System.
Born in Sharpsville on Sept. 2, 1923, she was the oldest of six siblings to Francisco and Rosa (Pagliaroli) Combine.
She attended the one-room school house located on the corner of Seneca and Hartford Roads in South Pymatuning Township until the fourth grade before moving to Sharpsville; she graduated from Sharpsville High School in 1942.
Mamie married her husband, Joseph J. Marcella, in on Nov. 25, 1950. Joseph died May 25, 2001.
She was employed as a secretary by Westinghouse for 13 years. She retired from the then Sharon General Hospital as an office worker and aide in the home health department.
Mamie was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Farrell, and also Farrell VFW Post 5286 Auxiliary.
She previously served on the Stey Nevant Library board in Farrell. In the past, she was active in the Cub Scouts as a den mother in Farrell.
Mamie was thought of as the matriarch of her family. She was very compassionate, always putting others before herself. She loved parties surrounded by her family and friends and will be remembered for the fun Christmas Eve parties she hosted, along with her husband.
Also, she will be remembered by her bright smile, laughter and spunky outlook on life.
She was an avid reader and enjoyed solving crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She is survived by: one son, Joseph C. (Paula) Marcella, Sharon; stepsons Donald and William Marcella; two daughters, Kaye Lynne (Kevin) Bobish, Farrell, and Denise (Jeffrey) Caldwell, Fountain Hills, Ariz.; three grandsons, Kristin Marcella, Sharon, Ryan Caldwell, Portland Ore., and Joseph (JoJo) Caldwell, Phoenix Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews.
Mamie was preceded in death by: her three brothers, Patsy, John and Angelo Combine; and three sisters, Anne Smith, Rose Combine, and Mary Combine.

Service: A brief prayer service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday (8-1-17) in the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 601 Roemer Blvd., Farrell, with Rev. Matthew J. Ruyechan, pastor, as celebrant.
Burial: St. Anthony Cemetery, Hermitage.
