Madeline M. Callahan, 99, of Sharon, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Juniper Village, Sharon, after an extended illness.
Madeline was born on Oct. 9, 1918, in New Mine, the daughter of the late Domenico and Marietta E. (Buccicone) DiNardo. She graduated from Sharon High School in 1937.
She was a 50-plus year member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Sharon, where she was a charter member of the Couplers Sunday School class and attended the Senior Fellowship group.
Madeline had worked as a clerk for 10 years at the former Valley View Department Store in Brookfield, Ohio, retiring in 1979. Previously, she worked at the former Sharon Store for 20 years.
Madeline enjoyed traveling and playing cards with her husband and friends.
She was the widow of William G. Callahan, whom she married on Aug. 28, 1940. He died on Nov. 8, 2000.
She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Callahan Misko and her husband Thomas, of Hermitage; her son, Wm. Donald Callahan of Xalapa, VeraCruz, Mexico; and her grandchildren, Parker, Ella, and Nolan Misko.
Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Veronica Clary; and her brothers, Amedeo "DiDi" DiNardo, Theodore, Raymond, and Romolo DiNardo.
