Lisa M. Welker

Events

Lisa M. Welker, of Grove City, formerly of Franklin, Pa., passed away at home on Sunday evening, March 31, 2019, following a very extended battle with chronic illness. She was 53.
Lisa was born in Franklin, Pa., on Feb. 10, 1966, to Francis E. and Gloria P. (Patrick) Allen. A graduate of Franklin High School, class of 1984, Lisa went on to study at Grove City College, where she met and married Randall W. Welker on May 23, 1987; he survives at home.
Lisa was a homemaker who devoted many years to homeschooling her three children. Lisa found comfort in her faith in Jesus Christ and attended, when able, Grace Anglican Church in Grove City. Lisa was ceaselessly active, engaged and supportive in the lives of her children and husband, from rarely missing a soccer or tennis match when they were in high school years, to sending spontaneous gifts and keeping in touch through phone calls and texts later in life. Lisa had a warrior's heart and a great love for people, reaching out to them with mercy and never hesitating to provide emotional, spiritual, or financial support to those in need.
In addition to her husband, Lisa is survived by three children, Gabrielle Kucks and husband Ross, of Grove City; Josiah Welker and fiancée Abigail Diamond, and Matthew Welker, all of Pittsburgh; two sisters, Jane Miller and husband Keith, of Stowe, Ohio, and Mary Jo Swartz and husband Mark, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; and two brothers, Mark Allen, of Las Vegas, and Frank Allen, of Franklin.
Her parents preceded Lisa in death.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Mrs. Welker's memory to: Compassion International, at www.compassion.com.

I will never forget how kind Lisa was when I met her my freshmen year at Grove City College. She gave to me a box filled with 3X5 cards of Scriptures on them which she had filed categorically by need. A was for anger, anxious thoughts, etc. I needed them then, and I need them now. I am glad that I met her. We will pray for the family. May the Lord bless you and keep you, make his face to shine upon you...and give you peace.

As family and friends gather today to offer shared sadness and support, I am sad to be out of the country, as well as for the celebration of Lisa's beautiful life that I'm certain tomorrow will be. She was the best of friends in high school, the sister I didn't have and the like-minded companion that made friendship easy and memory-making even easier. I remember pursuing things of faith together in those young years, and they took good root in both of us. It is obvious in the beautiful lives of her children and husband that a legacy of faith was developed on her's and Randy's watch. I am so sad for what this earth has lost, especially for Randy, the kids' and their spouses/fiances. Yet I am ...so thankful for the gift we were all given, and for the fact that for Lisa, deliverance from all pain in any form whatsoever is her new reality. I love you, Welkers, and am praying that you may mutually grieve and rejoice as ones who have much hope. “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” Revelation 21:3-4Read more

I remember Lisa with a beautiful smile on her face! She was always kind to me. I remember having a sleepover at her house in middle school and how strong her faith was even then. She made me wish that I had that kind of faith. I will be praying for her family during this time. God bless!

So lucky to have shared my childhood with Lisa. From 12 years of St. Pat's Catechism classes to many memories of the joy and drama of middle school and high school. Lisa is a beautiful, intelligent person of high character connecting with everyone she meets. Your spirit will never leave us. Enjoy your heavenly body! Shalom, Friend.
