Lewis Mike Kite, 68, of Marion, Ohio, passed away peacefully at his residence on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2018, at 2 a.m. after a long battle with COPD.
He was born in Mercer on March 28, 1949, to Lewis E. and Ruth E. (McCarl) Kite, who preceded him in death.
He weas twice married, first to Connie, who preceded him in death in 1990, then he married C. Sue (Lovell) Kite on Dec. 12, 1992. They had 28 years together and he will be deeply missed.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Michalene (Shaine) Lewis and their sons Seth and Nash of Pennsylvania; twin sisters Cindy Angermier and Lindy (Gerald) Urey; stepchildren Rusty Adams, Christine Kopta, Michelle Metzgar and Kimberley Lary and their children, all of Pennsylvania; and aunt and uncle Catherine and George Walton of Illinois.
Mike served in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee during the Vietnam war. Upon his return home, he worked for several coal companies in Pennsylvania, then moved to Marion, Ohio, and worked for Central Soya in many capacities and then several trucking companies. He retired from Farm Transport, which was his favorite job working for the Fetter family. Mike had an incredible work ethic. He became family to anyone who knew him and would give you the shirt off his back.
Mike will be missed by many friends he made over the years, to name a few: neighbors Rick and Sharon Miles; Aaron and Rose Thomson, Canada; Pat Denboer and Kevin Nieboer, Michigan; and all our dog family. He spent many years showing his beloved Keeshonden and later the Basenjis with Sue. He will be reunited with all of them at the Rainbow Bridge and his beloved friends and family who have passed. He spent time with his buddies at the Shovel Lounge and most recently the Town House.
We will hold a celebration of life service in Marion and later another in Pennsylvania, and there we will spread his cremains and he will be "HOME".
