Larry  Zec


Larry "Butch" Zec Sr., of Burghill, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at 12 a.m. Tuesday, May 14, 2019, in Sharon Regional Medical Center. He was 72.
On Sept. 4, 1946, he was born in Grove City, a son to Elizabeth (Hassell) and Stephen Zec.
Butch attended Farrell schools and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
For 25 years, Butch worked on the railroad line at Sharon Steel Corps.
He was a motorcycle enthusiast and belonged to several motorcycle clubs, the last one being The Iron Dukes in New Castle. Butch was a Little League Baseball coach at the Patagonia Fields and also a coach for the Sharon Midgets football team.
Butch married Karen (Johnson) Zec, on April 1, 1967; she at home. Also surviving are his sons, Larry, "Butchie" Zec Jr. and his wife Krista of Cranberry Township, Pa., and Kenneth Zec of Burghill; a sister, Donna Grithith of Cape Fear, N.C.; brothers, Ricky Zec and his wife Mary of Farrell and Michael Zec and his wife Debbie of Sharon; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Butch is preceded in death by his son, Donovan Zec; a grandson, Matthew Zec, and a brother, Steve Zec.

Calling hours: 2 to 5 p.m. Friday (5-17-19) in JOHN FLYNN FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY Inc, 2630 E. State St., Hermitage.
Funeral service: 5 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Turner officiating.
