Katherine P. Thompson


Katherine P. Thompson, 78, of Grove City, passed away surrounded by family in Allegheny General Hospital on Friday, April 12, 2019, after a short illness.
She was born Nov. 4, 1940, in Titusville, to John "Jack" and Helen (Cook) Collar.
Kate graduated from Grove City High School in 1957. She married Richard "Dick" Thompson in 1960. They would have been happily married for 59 years this August.
She is survived by her husband, Dick; one sister, Shirley Wilson (Eugene); two children, Judith Kort (Michael), Evans City., and David Thompson (Amy), Welcome, Md.; four granddaughters, Jessica Kort, Rebecca McElravy (Patrick), Kiersten Kitson (Ray) and Courtney Thompson; and four great-grandchildren, Kyler, Lorelai, Jaxon and Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is loved and loved her family and had a special skill in spoiling the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed reading mysteries and was a volunteer for 20 years at Grove City Medical Center. She was a member of The Wayside Community Church.
A celebration of her life will be at 2 p.m. May 11 at The Wayside Community Church, 1911 Mercer-Grove City Road, Mercer, with Pastors Lester Rowan and Kenton Shaw, officiating.

I remember when she brought Judy and me donuts when she volunteered. Funny thing when she saw me that's how she remembered me. Eating donuts with Judy. I will miss her and her contagious smile. Love and prayers to the family.
