Jay J. Senko Julian J. "Jay" Senko, a longtime resident of Hermitage passed away at 10:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26, 2019, in St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after an extended illness. He was 89.
Mr. Senko was born Aug. 17, 1929, in McKeesport, a son of the late Nicholas and Mary (Leshner) Senko.
He was a 1947 graduate of McKeesport High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Penn State University in 1952.
Following his graduation from college, Jay served in Korea with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was employed as a medical service representative with Parke-Davis and Co. for 38 years, retiring in 1991.
Jay was a charter member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and served on its finance council and building committee. He was a member and past president of the Serra Club of Mercer County and St. John XXIII Home board of directors. He also served on Catholic Charities board of directors.
In recognition of his dedication to the church and community, he was bestowed by Papal authority as a Knight of the Order of St. Gregory the Great.
His first wife, the former Aurelia Adams, whom he married July 6, 1957, passed away Aug. 9, 1967.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, the former Suzanne Driscoll, whom he married Sept. 30, 1968; a daughter, M. Julia Dodds and her husband Gregory, of Suffield, Conn.; two sons, Robert N. Senko and his wife Christine, of Concord, N.H., and John M. Senko and his wife Valerie, of Akron, Ohio; and eight grandchildren, William A. Dodds and his wife Allison, Andrew E. Dodds, Timothy A. Dodds, Allison M. Senko, Adam J. Senko, Emily A. Senko, Nicholas R. Senko and Ryan
C. Senko.
Besides his parents and first wife, Jay was preceded in death by five sisters, Julia Senko, Cecille Hein, Anne Yablonsky, Vera Hartle and Valerie Domitrovic.
The family suggests memorial contributions be directed to the Church of Notre Dame, 2325 Highland Road, Hermitage, PA 16148; St. John XXIII Home, 2250 Shenango Valley Freeway, Hermitage, PA 16148; or Prince of Peace Center, 502 Darr Ave., Farrell, PA 16121.

Interment: St. Rose Cemetery, Hermitage.

I will always remember and appreciate Jay’s smile and his playful wit with all of us when we were in our formative years. He was a bright spot in my life for sure. Thank you Jay and God bless all of the Senkos.

Suzanne and Family: My deepest sympathy. My prayers are with Jay and you in these days and beyond. May he rest in peace and may the Lord comfort you. Jay and his deep faith were a great example and inspiration to me and to many. I regret that I have a simultaneous funeral here Wednesday and won't be able to be with you. Celebrate his life and his Eternal Life well...
