Joyce Thornberry, of Grove City, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2018, in Orchard Manor where she was a resident since 2008. She was 94.
Joyce was born in Hillards, Butler County, on April 17, 1923, to Harry Lamont and Hazel (Dobbs) Patterson.
She married later Walter Thornberry on June 21, 1942; he preceded her in death on May 1, 1998.
She was a homemaker and longtime member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Jeanne Babcock and Jo Ann Warner, both Grove City; a brother, the Rev. James E. Patterson, Wadsworth, Ohio; four step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Walter Lewis Thornberry Jr.; a daughter, Diane Turner; and a brother, Rev. John "Jack" Patterson.
Joyce's family would like to express their thanks to the staff of Orchard Manor for the care given to her throughout her stay.
Memorials in Joyce's name may be given to Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St, or Orchard Manor, 20 Orchard Drive, both Grove City, PA 16127.

Funeral: 11 a.m. Wednesday (1-17-18) in the chapel of Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Broad St., Grove City.
