Joseph H. Sherne, 85, of Grove City went home to be with the Lord on Saturday morning Nov. 25, 2017, in his home following a lengthy illness.
Joseph was born in Venango County on June 27, 1932, to Otis and Margaret J. Sherne. He was married to Margaret (Basham) Taylor Sherne; she preceded him in death in 2005.
He was retired from Franklin Steel where he worked for 29 years.
Joseph, a quiet and kind man, would be seen cleaning and waxing his car near the Mount Olive Baptist Church where he was a member. He had given himself to the Lord. He enjoyed watching old western movies, fishing and being around his large family.
He is survived by 12 children, Karen Turner, Grove City, Lynnette Taylor-Criego, Pittsburgh, Terry Taylor, Davenport, Fla., Joanne Taylor, Kissimmee, Fla., Marcus Taylor, Davenport, Fla., Marsha Jones, Pittsburgh, Ben Taylor, Butler, Ellen Taylor, Kissimmee, Fla., Sandra Taylor, Grove City, Jacqulyn Robinson, Pittsburgh, Joel Sherne, Davenport, Fla., and Christopher Sherne, Davenport, Fla.; 24 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenneth Sherne, Oil City; and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a son, Timothy Taylor; two sisters Agnes and Gladys; and four brothers, Charles, Frederick, Otis and Henry.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Thursday (11-30-17) at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 663 Barkeyville Road, Grove City, with the Rev. Veda Holland officiating.
Burial: Prairie Cemetery, Harrisville.
