Joseph F. Lapp, 8221 Lamor Road, Mercer (East Lackawannock Township) passed away at 2:05 p.m. Friday, June 16, 2017, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after an extended illness. He was 85.
He was born Oct. 3, 1931, in New Castle to Christian and Martha Lantz Lapp.
He married the former Ola Anderson on June 1, 1956. She died on June 13, 2004.
Joseph formerly worked at Blair Strip Steel, General American, Sharon Steel, Grove City College and George Junior Republic. He worked at Cooper Bessemer the last 20 years he worked.
He attended the Mennonite Church in New Wilmington.
He is survived by three children, Fred Lapp in Grove City, Marilyn Lapp and her companion Randy in Hermitage, and William Lapp and his wife Tammie in Grove City; two sisters, Margaret Miller in New Wilmington and Lois Alfredo in Sharpsville; three grandchildren, Crystal, Mindy and Jordan ; a step-grandson, Michael Hedglin; and three great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Martha Todo, Mary Stewart and Ruth Helmuth; and two brothers, Leroy and Jonathan Lapp.

Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday (6-19-17) at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME Inc., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer, and for an hour prior to the service on Tuesday (6-20-17).
Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Pastor Veda Holland of Mount Olive Baptist Church, Grove City, officiating.
Burial: Carpenter Cemetery, Springfield Township.
