Jon O. Gee
Mr. Gee was born May 10, 1935, in Charleroi, a son of the late John R. and Hazel M. (Jones) Gee. He was a 1953 graduate of Sharon High School, and as a young man worked as a parts and service technician at various car dealerships in the Shenango Valley.
Prior to the opening of G.M. Lordstown (Lordstown, Ohio) in 1966, Jon was the
fifth employee hired to work in the new car manufacturing facility. He worked in the plant as a tool repairman for the next 31 years, retiring in 1997.
Jon was a longtime member of St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon.
He was also a member of U.A.W. Local 1112, Lordstown, Ohio.
Jon had a lifelong passion for restoring and collecting classic and antique cars. He enjoyed "tinkering" in his garage and spending time at his camp in Jefferson, with his four sons. Above all, Jon loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, the former Joyce A. Knapp, whom he married Feb. 20, 1954, in St. John's Episcopal Church, Sharon; a daughter, Karen (Paul) Stephenson, Hermitage; four sons, John (Lorraine) Gee, Hubbard Township, Ohio, and Daniel W. (Deborah) Gee, Gary O. (Lisa) Gee and Jason D. Gee, all of Sharon; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Jeff) Osborne and Jon Stephenson; Tiffany Gee, Daniel Gee, Jr. and David Gee and Ciara, Isabella and Olivia Gee; and a great-grandson, Maverick Osborne.
In addition to his parents, Jon was preceded in death by a brother, Donald E. Gee.
