John Motes Jr., of Burghill, Ohio, passed away at his home on Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 2016. He was 80.
He was born July 23, 1936, in Statesboro, Ga., a son of John Motes Sr. and Eunice Allen Motes Deleon.
John was a Marine veteran, serving in Korea.
He was in communications.
He was a journeyman plumber in California for 20 years. He retired from Owen Brothers Plumbing. After moving to Ohio, he was a truck driver for three years.
He was a member of the Moose Club in Greenville and the Elks in California.
He enjoyed freehand drawing and antique cars.
John is survived by his wife, Marjorie Mott Motes, whom he married July 4, 1981; a daughter, Lori (Steve) Walsh, Washington; three sons, Scott Loriensen, Oregon; Paul Alan (Debbie) Motes, New Mexico; and Shawn Waylon (Susie) Motes, Riverside, Calif.; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Candy (Jim) Widener, Virginia; and a brother, Joaquin (Kathy) Deleon, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours: Noon to time of service Wednesday (11-9-16) in GALLOWAY-ONSTOTT FUNERAL HOME, 3451 state Route 7, Hartford.
Service: Funeral at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
Burial: Hartford Township Cemetery.
