John J. "Chip" Koprivnak, 79, of Mercer, passed away at his residence at 2:10 p.m. Friday (March 9, 2018).
He was born on May 18, 1938, in Brent (Plain Grove Township) Lawrence County to John Koprivnak and Jennie Constantine Koprivnak.
He married Deborah J. Mathieson on March 23, 1968.
He retired in 2008 as a crane operator for Sharon Steel.
Chip was an Army veteran and a member of the Wilbur Rhodes Mercer VFW Post 6345 and the Richard E. Craft American Legion Post 584 of Springfield Township.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, taking care of everyone's lawn and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors include: his wife, Deborah at home; son, Scott A. Koprivnak and wife Lorraine of Hermitage; daughter, Wendy B. Hinkson and husband Scott of Mercer; six grandchildren, Megan Carter, Zach Carter, John Koprivnak, Abigail Koprivnak, Quentin Hinkson and Nate Hinkson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard and Ben.

Service: 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. August Hurst, pastor of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, presiding.
