John's Story

John William George Jr., 50, of Jackson Center, Worth Township, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017, at home.
Born Nov. 28, 1966, in Grove City, he was a son of John W. and Shirley L. Elliott George Sr.
He was a 1985 graduate of Lakeview High School and attended Thiel College, Greenville.
A third-generation dairy farmer, John grew on the family farm alongside his father and grandfather and always had a love for the farm. He partnered with his dad on the George Dairy Farm on Millbrook Road, then in 2005, he and his wife began George's Creekside Dairy on Creek Road, Worth Township. It was a family endeavor, with everyone pitching in with long hours and dedication to make it a successful dairy operation. John was very meticulous when it came to his herd, knowing all of them by name (all had special names given by the family) and had the keen ability to keep the lineage and genetics of each cow in his head. He especially loved mowing hay and always valued a good day's work. He was a member of the Mercer County and Pennsylvania State Holstein Associations and the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau
John had a light side and was especially known for his great sense humor. He loved to tease and would end it with his wonderful contagious smile and the twinkle in his eye. He always looked for the good in everything and handled life as it came with a positive attitude and with the Christian values he always lived by.
He enjoyed watching the stock market and going out to eat. He enjoyed watching sports and was a huge Penn State football fan, and also liked the Steelers and the Pirates. It was a highlight to attend a Penn State home game every year. He was an avid supporter of Lakeview football and girls softball.
Most of all he was a loving husband, father, brother and son and will be greatly missed.
He married his high school sweetheart, Angela M. Haas, on May 20, 1989, and she survives at home along with: two daughters, Samantha Christine George at home and her fiancee Garrett Shaw, Sandy Lake; and Brooke Marie George at home and her boyfriend Cody Deniker, Stoneboro. Also: his mother Shirley (William) Jenkins, Sandy Lake; his father John W. (Judith) George, Jackson Center; a sister, Cathy (Kevin) Watts, Sandy Lake; a half sister, Avis (Tim) Graham, Sharpsville; a stepsister, Terrie (Rick) Oswald, Fern Park, Fla.; and stepbrothers Bill McGrew, Oviedo Fla., and Brad (Laura) Jenkins, Grove City.
Memorials in John's name may be made to the Lakeview Education Foundation, C/O Jane Buckley, 377 S. Foster Road, Jackson Center, PA 16133.
