'Jack' Bernat

August 17, 1952 - January 29, 2019

'Jack' Bernat John "Jack" Bernat, 66, Farrell, passed away early Tuesday morning (Jan. 29, 2019) in Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness.
Jack was born Aug. 17, 1952, in Sharon, a son of John C. and Patricia Grace (Mikis) Bernat.
A lifelong Farrell resident, Jack was a 1970 graduate of Farrell High School and earned his associate's degree from Youngstown State University. He retired as an distribution shop clerk from National Fuel, where he was employed for more than 36 years.
Jack was a devout Catholic and had an unwavering faith in God. He was an active member of Church of the Good Shepherd, West Middlesex, where he served as a greeter and usher.
His family was the most important part of his life. He was extremely proud of each and every one of his children and loved video recording their special events.
Jack enjoyed sports and exercising. He ran track in high school and loved playing golf with his sons. He also enjoyed music, a trait he inherited from his father. He played the trumpet in the Farrell High School marching band, the piano at home, and wrote numerous songs.
Shopping on Craigslist was also one of Jack's hobbies. Everything he pursued in life was done in excellence. He was truly a 'Jack' of all trades.
Jack touched the lives of so many. Lifelong friends will be his pallbearers.
He is survived by: his loving wife, the former Kim M. Brown, whom he married June 22, 1991; a daughter, Chelsea Bleu Zaboroski and her husband Brad, of Cleveland; three sons, Trenton Jon Bernat, of Philadelphia, and Logan Hunter Bernat and Kolby Owen Bernat, both of Farrell; his father and mother, John and Grace Bernat, also of Farrell; a brother, Rodney Bernat and his wife Kate, of Phoenix, Ariz., and their two sons, Johnathon and Jarod; two sisters, Cindy Bernat Davis and her husband Ronald and their sons Travis and Chase, and Patty Hernandez and her children Levi, Gia, Ian and Josiah; and his father- and mother-in-law, Ken and Dolly Brown, of New Middletown, Ohio.
Jack was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family suggests memorial contributions or Masses be directed to Church of the Good Shepherd, 3613 Sharon Road, West Middlesex, PA 16159.

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your husband and father. I was saddened to learn of his passing.
I had the pleasure of working with Jack for a short time at the ADESA auto auction near Mercer.
Jack was an uplifting man to be associated with. There was something special about him and we would respectfully refer to him as "Happy Jack."
It was not surprising to learn that Jack was a Christian man because he reflected this fact by living his life with grace. The world would be a better place it there were more men like Jack in it.
