Rev. Dr. Janice E. Duncan, 74, of Hermitage, died after an extended illness at 9:45 a.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, in The Grove of Greenville.
Janice was born Dec. 20, 1942, in New Castle to Mildred "Midge" (Bish) Metz and Charles "Chuck" Metz.
She graduated from Grove City College with a bachelor's degree in theology and earned her doctorate from the School of Theology in Sewanee, Tenn. She was employed by the Episcopal Diocese of Northwest Pennsylvania and was a priest for many Episcopal churches in the area.
She enjoyed cooking, baking and writing music and loved Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Surviving are: her daughters, Brenda Lizzie and her companion George Howze of Sharpsville, Suzanne Henderson and her husband Michael of Masury, and Melissa Silbaugh and her husband Shawn of Lisbon, Ohio; her sons, Kirk Lizzie and his wife Rozilla of Pulaski, Brian Lizzie and his companion Laura Novotny of Youngstown, and Matthew Duncan of Hermitage; her foster sons, Craig Clendenning of Zelienople, and Paul Szak of Brookfield; her sisters, Peg Cotton and her husband Will of Calabash, N.C., and Beth Iliff and her husband Larry of Hadley; a brother, Ronald Metz of Green Valley, Ariz.; 24 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents and her husband, Daniel "Dan" L. Duncan, whom she married July 1, 1972, and who passed away Sept. 10, 2011.

Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday (8-3-17) in St. John's Episcopal Church, 226 W. State St., Sharon, with Rev. Douglas Dayton and Rev. Adam Trambley officiating.
