James R. Moors, 68, of Volant, passed away Friday (May 11, 2018) after a long battle with cancer. His peaceful passing took place at his home in Holt, Mo., with his wife and dogs by his side.
Jim was born Jan. 29, 1950, to Robert W. and Marian Pattison Moors.
He was a 1967 graduate of Grove City High School and the University of Maryland.
He served his country in the Army for 30 years, retiring in 2002 after attaining the rank of sergeant major. He was a veteran of both the Vietnam and Desert Storm wars.
He was a lifetime Steelers fan, an avid hunter and billiards player.
A dedicated volunteer at the Missouri Veteran's Home, he was instrumental in starting both an "in-house pet program" and a library.
His humor, sense of joy and kindness will be greatly missed.
Mr. Moors is survived by: his wife, the former Diane F. Walker, whom he married July 7, 1979; his mother, Marian of Volant, a sister, Lois J. Bestwick of Mercer; five nephews; three nieces; a great-nephew and three great-nieces.
He was preceded in death by: his father, Robert W. Moors; and a brother, Robert G. Moors.
At Jim's request he was cremated and no services were held.
