James A.'s Story
James A. "Jim" Veder Jr., a 38-year resident of the Grove City area, passed away at home Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017, following an illness since May 2016. He was 69.
Jim was born in Avalon on May 14, 1948, to James A. and Elizabeth (Fairley) Veder Sr.
He married Nancy A. Syphrit on Sept. 20, 1969.
He was a graduate of Riverside High School, class of 1967.
He attended Plain Grove Presbyterian Church, Plain Grove.
Jim retired from Great Dane Trailers, Lancaster, where he was a salesman for 29 years.
Jim was a former two-term councilman for the Borough of Grove City. He served on the Grove City Recreation Council and was a member of the Grove City Kiwanis Club.
Jim was active with multiple antique car clubs. He enjoyed sprint car racing, golfing and spending time with his family.
Jim is survived by: his wife, Nancy, at home; two daughters, Heather L. (Cory) Hake, Grove City, and Tiffany A. Veder, Emlenton; two grandchildren, Sara and John Hake; and two sisters, Beverly (Paul) Meyers, Avalon, and Sherry (Bart) Antoniazzi, Darlington.
His parents and a sister, Patsy McCullough, preceded Jim in death.

Visitation: 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday (9-26-17) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday (9-27-17) in the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Stanley Keehlwetter officiating.
Burial: Butler County Memorial Park.
