Helen R. Carothers of Jackson Township, Mercer, passed away on Thursday evening (Dec. 14, 2017) in Sharon Regional Medical Center. She was 95.
Helen was born in Negley, Ohio, on July 22, 1922, to Clarence Freeman and Belle (McFarland) Bailey.
She married William "Jack" Carothers on April 21, 1944. He preceded her in death on Sept. 13, 2005.
She was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and she was an active member for many years at the former Springfield Presbyterian Church until its closing.
Helen was a homemaker and a longtime member of the Happy Homemakers group.
She is survived by: four children, Diane Kelly and her husband, Edward, of Illinois, John W. "Jack" Carothers and his wife, Barb, of Sandy Lake, Dan P. Carothers of Mercer, and Dave M., Carothers and his wife Lisa, of Geneva, Ohio; a daughter-in-law, Linda Carothers of Jackson Center, 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband; a son, Sam J. Carothers; a daughter-in-law, Bonnie Carothers; a sister, Mary Brunner; and two brothers, Roy and Earl Bailey.

Calling hours: 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday (12-17-17) at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME, 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Monday (12-18-17) at the funeral home, with the Rev. Benjamin Fleet officiating.
Burial: Union Home Cemetery, Wolf Creek Township.
