Harry S. Zurasky

Harry S. Zurasky Sr., 88, of Meadville, formerly of Mitchell Road, Neshannock Township, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 18, 2018.
Born on Sept. 20, 1930, in New Castle, he was the son of the late Julius and Agnes Donley Zurasky.
On April 5, 1952, he married his beloved wife, the former Joan McQuiston, who preceded him in death on Feb. 6, 2016.
Harry was a former teacher and principal in the Shenango, Neshannock and Mercer area school districts. Along with teaching, Harry also served as the football coach at Neshannock and Shenango. Harry retired as principal at the Mercer Area High School.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict.
He is a member of Kings Chapel United Methodist Church.
Harry is survived by his children, Harry Zurasky Jr. and his wife Ann of Townville, Pa., John Zurasky and his wife Suzanne of Portland, Org., Gary Zurasky of Portland, Joan Cooper and her husband Richard of Blythewood, S.C., Joyce Ober and her husband Richard of Herndon, Va., Janice Hanna and her husband Jerry of New Castle, Christine Nelson and husband Richard of Columbia, S.C.; three brothers, James Zurasky and wife Pat of Madison, Ala., Russell of Pulaski, and Richard Zurasky, of Greenville; two sisters, Frances Sherry of Sharon and Patricia Diana and husband Richard of Louisville, Ky.; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a son, William Jenkins; a daughter, Carol Zurasky; a brother, Paul; and sisters, Elsie Dean, Martha Reppart and Anna Cooley.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages contributions to a program to feed at-risk students through New Richmond United Methodist Church Food for Thought, 29776 State Highway 77, Guys Mills, PA 16327 or King's Chapel United Methodist Church, 861 Old Pulaski Road, New Castle, PA 16105.

Calling hours: 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday (11-10-18) at Kings Chapel United Methodist Church, 861 Old Pulaski Road, New Castle.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Interment: Parkside Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to ED and DON DECARBO FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY, 941 S. Mill St., New Castle.
