Gerald Clayton Taylor, 81, of Shenango on The Green, New Wilmington, formerly of Leesburg Station Road, Volant, died at Shenango Presbyterian Sr. Care in New Wilmington on Friday, March 22, 2019.
Gerald was born in Fredonia, to the late Howard Hazzard Taylor and Ada Delolas Turner. He married Mary Esther Rodgers on April 22, 1961, and she preceded him in death July 13, 2017.
He was in the first graduating class of Lakeview High School in 1955. Gerald worked originally at Beverly Farms making ice cream, then transitioned to Grove City College maintenance department doing what he loved best, cutting the grass.
Gerald was an active member of New Wilmington Christian Missionary Alliance Church and served as elder. Church and family were a big part of his life.
Gerald had a great interest in Word Search books, playing games with family and friends, square dancing, bus trips, following Pirates baseball, and working outside. He had a great love for dogs, especially Alexis.
He is survived by one daughter, Rhonda (James) Cameron of New Wilmington; one son, Brian (Elaine) Taylor of New Wilmington; five grandchildren, Alexandra (Joshua) Schroder; Hunter and Mia Taylor of New Wilmington; Jessica and Kayla Cameron of New Wilmington; one brother-in-law, Albert Kremis of Fredonia; one sister-in-law, Virginia Taylor of Greenville; and many nieces and nephews, with whom he enjoyed visiting.
Preceding him in death are his parents; wife, Mary; two brothers, Laverne and George Taylor; and three sisters: Alta Mae Stallsmith, Yvonne Kremis, and Elverda Kremis.
The Family would like to express their appreciation for the compassion and care given to Gerald and his family by Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care and Kindred Hospice.

Calling Hours: From 4 to 8 p.m., Tuesday (3-26-19) at THE SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 310 W. Neshannock Ave., New Wilmington.
Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday (3-27-19) at New Wilmington Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Grusendorf, pastor of New Wilmington Christian Missionary Alliance Church, officiating.
Interment: Whit Chapel Cemetery, Wilmington Township, Mercer County.
