He was born March 15, 1952, in Oil City, a son of James L. "Jack" and Helen M. Spence Paup.
George was a 1971 graduate of Cranberry High School.
He worked for more than 25 years in the shop at Cooper-Bessemer, Grove City, until 2001 and left due to the shutdown. He then worked for the Stoneboro Borough maintenance department for more than 10 years and retired for health reasons.

George was known as a generous man. He was always fixing and building things for others. If he couldn't fix it, he would help you replace it. Along with his son and daughter, he was very active with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts over the years. He spent years working the Girl Scout tent at the Stoneboro Fair, attending many camping events at Custaloga, all the time encouraging young people. He also enjoyed hunting, his hunting dogs and watching his cat. He also enjoyed his time he spent with his Amish friends.
His wife, the former Jean Foltz, whom he married Aug. 25, 1973, survives at home. Also surviving are a daughter, Jennifer Stahl and her husband, Fred, of Kinsman, Ohio; a son, Shawn L. Paup of Butler; his mother, Helen Paup of Venus; three sisters, Carol L. (John) Schaffer of Franklin, Gloria J. Bearfield and her companion, Jack Shadle, of Erie, and Michelle L. (Rick) Ritchey of Venus; and two brothers, Samuel E. Paup of Venus and Daniel J. (Beth) Paup of Oil City.
