Frances B. "Fran" Kiefer passed away on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, in Signature Health Care in Newburgh, Newburgh, Ind. She was 98. She previously lived in Sharon and in Brookfield.
She was born in Farrell on Dec. 20, 1918, to George and Frances Mizenko Harenchar.
She married Rudolph P. "Rudy" Kiefer on Dec. 26, 1938. He passed away on Feb. 8, 1982.
Fran was a member of the former St. Ann Church in Farrell and its Altar Society. She was a longtime member of the first Catholic Slovak Ladies Association and a former member and officer of the American Business Women's Associa- tion.
For several years, she was the advertising manager for the former Sharon Store in Sharon. She also worked for the former Copley Moving Co. in Sharon. She was a graduate of the Farrell High School class of 1937.
She is survived by two sons, Paul and his wife, Charlotte, in Berlin, Germany, and Jim and his wife, Paula, of Evanston, Ill.
She was preceded in death by four brothers, Albert, Cyril, George and Stephen Harenchar; and three sisters, Mary Riley, Margaret Ulica and Ann Prough.
