Fr. Gerald's Story
Fr. Gerald B. Kanzic died peacefully in his home in Pittsburgh on Jan. 29, 2018, at the age of 62.
Father is survived by his brother-in-law, Robert "Butch" Ulikowski; nieces, Noel (Matthew) Johns, Patricia Parker, Lisa (David) Taylor and Lori (William) Brown; nephews Edward Ulikowski and Jason (Sandra) Ulikowski. He is also survived by many loving cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Father was preceded in death by his parents, John and Victoria (Buglak) Kanzic, the late Janice Ulikowski and John Kanzic.
Father was born May 5, 1955, in Sharon. He graduated from Kennedy Catholic High School in 1973. He continued his education at St. Francis University. Later in life, he followed a calling from God to join Christ the King Seminary, where he was ordained in 1992.
He spent the remainder of his life serving people through the Diocese of Patterson, N.J. Most recently he worked as a Catholic priest at UMPC Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.
In his spare time, Father Kanzic enjoyed time with his family, friends and two cats as well as fishing and attending Pittsburgh Pirates and Penguins games and performing arts shows.

Calling hours: Friends and family are welcome in the JOHN N. ELACHKO FUNERAL HOME, 3447 Dawson St., Oakland, Pa., ONLY on Friday (2-2-18) from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m.
Service: Following cremation, a funeral Mass will be Thursday (2-8-18) in St. Adalbert's Churchy, 1035 Fruit Ave., Farrell.
