Emily M. Shelley, 97, of Hudson, Ohio, formerly of Hall Avenue, Sharon, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2018, in the emergency room of Cleveland Clinic at their Twinsburg, Ohio, location after a brief illness.
Emily was born on Dec. 18, 1920, in Yorkshire, England, the daughter of the late Henry and Sara (Reed) Tuck. She graduated from Hubbard High School and then from the former C.H. Buhl Hospital School of Nursing.
She had worked as a nurse at the former Sharon Steel, Sharon, for 10 years. Previously, she had also worked at the former Westinghouse plant and was a head nurse at the former Buhl Hospital.
Emily enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and reading. She had been a member of the Retired Nurses Association of Sharon and loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. While living in this area, Emily attended Covenant Presbyterian Church.
She married Rollin D. Shelley on Feb. 26, 1952, and he passed away on Dec. 8, 1987.
She is survived by her daughter, Anita Mackin and her fiancee Kevin Biro, of Hudson, Ohio; her three grandchildren, Melanie, Michelle, and Ian; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Sally and her brother, Kenneth, both of Yorkshire, England.
Besides her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Elizabeth and Rose; and a brother, James.
