On June 7, 2018, Elizabeth "Libby" Marie Pagni, 82, passed away peacefully at her retirement home in Hudson, Ohio.
Born July 12, 1935, to Harold and Elsie (Patterson) Weber, Libby grew up on their farm just west of Grove City.
She attended Center Presbyterian Church with her parents, and would later become an active member of The Church of the Beloved Disciple.
For as long as she could remember, Libby had loved children and wanted to be a teacher. She excelled academically at Grove City Area High School, where she participated in competitive debate, class plays and voluntary library service.
In 1952, she wed Reni A. Pagni, her beloved husband of 60 years, with whom she proudly raised six children. Devoted to her kids, Libby waited until they were all in school before earning bachelor's and master's degrees in education, with high honors, at Slippery Rock State College.
For more than 20 years, she enjoyed teaching math and coaching academic games at Slippery Rock Middle School, where she was cherished and respected by her colleagues and students alike.
In retirement, Libby and Reni enjoyed trips to Italy and Alaska, as well as backyard bird watching, wintering in Florida and doting on their grandchildren.
After Reni's death, Libby remained in Grove City until 2015, when she moved to Hudson, Ohio, where most of her children lived nearby. In addition to their frequent visits, Libby thrived on the stimulating fellowship and activities at Laurel Lake Retirement Community, where she endeared herself to virtually everyone she met.
Libby was preceded in death by her parents and husband, and by her siblings Robert Weber, Harold (Jake) Weber, Virginia Taylor and Shirley Taylor.
She is survived by her sister, Doris Hicks (Grove City); and her children, Charlotte Pagni (Ann Arbor, Mich.), Cheri Griffith (Hudson, Ohio), Annie Reiplinger (Grove City), Mark Pagni (Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio), Mitch Pagni (Grove City) and Matt Pagni (Cuyahoga Falls). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Libby Pagni will be remembered as a kind, loving, and generous person who always put others first, and who met every challenge with wit, perseverance and an eternally positive attitude.
