Edward F. Shaginaw


Edward F. Shaginaw, 93, of Lake Latonka, passed away Monday Sept. 17, 2018, in his residence following a period of declining health.
He was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 2, 1925, the son of Peter and Anna (Biertich) Shaginaw.
Ed was a graduate of Oliver High School and went on to proudly serve in the Navy during World War II as a radioman 2nd Class. He received his honorable discharge in November 1946 along with the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal and the Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars.
Following his discharge, he worked for the Pittsburgh Police Department for many years before his retirement at the rank of sergeant.
He leaves behind his daughters, Alicia Ring of La Jolla, Calif., Janice Branson and Judy Namisnak, both of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, the former Joann Trembulak; his daughter, Andrea Shaginaw; brothers, Peter and Frank; and his sisters, Annie and Margaret.
