Douglas Michael DiPreta
Douglas Michael DiPreta, 73, of Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Sharon, passed away peacefully Tuesday (Oct. 1, 2019) with his wife, Pam, by his side.
Mr. DiPreta was born Sept. 30, 1946, a son of Michael (Stone) DiPreta and Marie (Agostinella) DiPreta.
A 1964 graduate of Sharon High School, he attended Youngstown State University and proudly served in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam Era.
Music was ingrained in Doug's DNA at a young age and remained a focal point his entire adult life. After forming his first band at the age of 12, he continued forming bands throughout his career as an artist, most notably: The Offbeats, Moment of Truth, Limelighters, and Delegation.
In 1981, Doug met the love of his life, the former Pam Mitchell, while in the band Delegation. The two were married Nov. 7, 1986. Together, they created music for the next 38 years, finding perfect harmony in their husband and wife team, Michaels and Mitchell.
With his family as top priority, Doug relocated from Atlantic City, N.J., and Las Vegas, Nev., to rejoin his family in Sharon, and ultimately Boynton Beach, to be with his father-in-law, Neil. He was a loving father to two equally talented sons.
The musical heritage of the DiPreta family lives on through his son, Darren, and his brother, Mickey.
In addition to his wife, Doug is survived by: a son, Darren (Lindsay) DiPreta; a brother, Mick (Patti) DiPreta; a sister, Elaine (Phil) Gadola; his best furry friend, Tucker; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Doug was preceded in death by his beloved son, Douglas DiPreta.
Doug's life was a life filled with music, love and laughter that will live on in our hearts forever.

Douglas Michael, 73, Boynton Beach, Fla., formerly of Sharon.

I extend much sympathy and condolences to you and all members of your family. It is extremely difficult to accept that nearly twenty years of close and cherished friendship with Doug are gone. Everyone who knew Doug would agree, that although warm memories will remain, his loss will be felt. I will miss our conversations every four or five days. Please keep in touch.
Warm regards,

Much love to you Pam and family. Doug will be remembered by me for his gentle and generous spirit. I will never forget how both of you supported our entire delegation of dental hygienists from New England for our District dinner at the Las Vegas Restaurant where you and Doug entertained! It was one of those unforgettable “moments” of friendship and love! My deepest condolences my friend!

I was a 20 year-old kid when Doug took a chance on a recommendation and hired me sight-unseen from 300 miles across the state. I joined his band, then called The Doug DiPreta Show (fresh off his years with the Bobby Mercer Road Show), and I was so green, but willing to learn. Doug was so gifted and also hard-working and inspired me to give my best every show. Although that incarnation of the band dissolved after just a few months, we reformed again shortly thereafter and became Delegation, and a few months later Pam joined the band. I stayed with them for over 6 years as we traveled all over the US, Caribbean and Canada; a truly life-changing experience for this young man. I met my wife Bri...gitte while we were in Montreal and we've been married since '88. Now, 38 years later I still deeply love Doug and Pam, and those memories and friendships will never fade. I trust that Doug is now jamming with the Lord, and we will meet again one day. Pamela, much love to you and we are here to support you as you move forward - we know how much a part of you Doug was on this earth, but I pray his enduring spirit will remain with you...Doug, we will all miss you dearly.Read more

Being the girlfriend (now wife of 31 years) of the bass player I got the pleasure of running the spot light for Doug and Pam and Delegation’s shows while visiting on the road from Reading PA to Lakeland Florida. We always had a blast. I’m so sorry Pam we can’t be there with you this week as we are traveling to Canada. So many memories with you two. The night of Balderdash had us rolling on the floor laughing. We did not see each other for 20 years, yet when we met in Hermitage and Florida, it was like yesterday. We will miss Doug so much. We love you and we will visit again soon. Much love. B & B

Dear Pam and Family , Randy and I extend Our Deepest Sympathy for your loss. Pam when I think of You and Doug I always think of the beautiful relationship you both shared together. It was very obvious to me from the first time I met you both. What a blessing it was to getting to work with you on the dances and to just converse. You both have those extra ordinary personalities that make it easy to love you. Along with the talent you shared your personalities were a gift for all who have met you over the years. Deepest love!
