Dorothy M. Steiner
Dorothy M. Steiner, 83, formerly of Glenn Avenue, Greenville, passed away Wednesday evening, Aug. 14, 2019, at The Grove of Greenville.
She was born in Greenville July 27, 1936, to Lawrence and Margaret (Rowland) Eddy, Dorothy was raised by foster parents S.J. and Laura Melvin.
She was a 1955 graduate of Penn High School and worked as a private duty nurse and an LPN at Nugent's and St. Paul's. Dorothy was a member of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville.
On June 5, 1997, she married Thomas E. Steiner, who passed away March 23, 2017.
She is survived by sons Alton "Fred" Oakes and his wife, LeAnn of Waukesha, Wisc., and Ronald Oakes and his wife, Erin of Summerville, S.C.; a daughter, Deborah Blair and her husband, Michael, of Lillington, N.C., stepsons, Thomas C, Steiner and his wife, Katherine of Carthage, N.Y., and Robert P. Steiner of Greenville; a sister, Leona Vukmer of Seagertown; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; foster parents; husband; previous husband Alton Oakes; four sisters, Florence Charleston, Eva Reynold, Margarite Anthony and Patricia Slonaker; four brothers, Benjamin Eddy, David Eddy, Donald Eddy and Joseph Eddy; and granddaughter, Eden Oakes.

Calling hours: From 10 a.m. until time of service Tuesday (8-20-19) in the gathering area of St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville.
Funeral Mass: 11 a.m. Tuesday (8-20-19) in St. Michael Roman Catholic Church, Greenville, with the Rev. V. David Foradori, pastor, as celebrant.
Interment: St. Michael Cemetery, Greenville.
Arrangements have been entrusted to LOUTZENHISER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC. 366-368 S. Main St., Greenville.
