A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday for Dorothy Specht of 499 Boyd Drive, Sharon. She passed away at 4:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, in the hospital of Sharon Regional Health System after a brief illness. She was 81. Mrs. Specht was born March 15, 1926, in Greenville, a daughter of the late Victor and Helen Fisher Deissler. She was a graduate of the former Penn High School, Greenville, and attended what was Youngstown College, now Youngstown State University. Mrs. Specht was employed for several years as a stenographer in the engineering department of the former Sharon Transformer Division of Westinghouse Electric Corp. She was a charter member of the Church of Notre Dame, Hermitage, and belonged to Sharon Regional Health System Auxiliary and the American Association of Retired Persons. Her husband, Theodore R. Specht, whom she married June 28, 1947, and with whom she celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary this past June, passed away Dec. 29, 2007. A devoted wife and mother, she is survived by: three sons, Gerald Specht and his wife Roxann, Evanston, Ill.; James Specht and his wife Elizabeth, Houston, Texas; and Lawrence Specht and his wife Karen, Wilmington, Del.; a daughter, Rosemary Koch and her husband Gary, Lordstown, Ohio; nine grandchildren, Andrew, Mark, Elizabeth, Amanda, David, Jenna and Crystal Specht; and Katherine and Sean Koch; a brother, Robert G. Deissler and his wife June, Fairview Park, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Specht was preceded in death by a son, Robert Specht; and a younger brother, Edward Deissler. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shenango Valley Community Library, 11 N. Sharpsville Ave., Sharon 16146; or to the Church of Notre Dame, 2335 Highland Road, Hermitage 16148.
