Dorothy Sereday, 92, resident of Jameson Place, entered the nearer presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday (Sept. 20, 2017), at Jameson Hospital in New Castle.
Born in Uniontown, Pa., on Aug. 22, 1925, she was the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Satanek.
Dorothy became the beloved wife of William Sereday when they married on Nov. 24, 1945.
For 50 years she was a seamstress, hardworking alongside her husband at Sonoff Dry Cleaners in Farrell, a family business still owned and operated by her eldest son and daughter-in-law.
Dorothy led a simple and meaningful life, largely due to being born and raised in the Church of God. She attended Chestnut Ridge Church of God and was a member of the Gideon's. Dorothy had a strong Slovak heritage. She was devoted to her friends and family and driven by her faith.
Dorothy leaves behind: her daughter, Doris J. Allshouse (Keith) of Durum, N.C.; three sons, William R. Sereday (Joann) of New Wilmington, Kenneth J. Sereday (Brenda) of West Middlesex, and Richard A. Sereday (Roseann) of Brookfield; a daughter-in-law, Debra Sereday of Stoneboro; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and her dog Skippy who granted respite in Dorothy's latter years.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; husband William, who passed away on June 7, 2006; a son Gerald Sereday; two sisters; and two brothers.
