Dorothy H. McConnell


Dorothy H. McConnell, 92, of Grove City, formerly of Forty Fort, passed peacefully on Tuesday, April 23, 2019, in Orchard Manor.
Dorothy was born on Sept. 6, 1926, in Irwin Township, Venango County to Claude E. and Ruth (Donaldson) Dick.
She married Robert E. McConnell on Dec. 16, 1944. They were married for 74 years.
She was a graduate of Grove City High School in 1944 and Wyoming School of Business in Kingston. She was employed in the Kingston/Wilkes-Barre area for 33 years and retired in 1989 from the Bureau of Vocational Rehabilitation, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Dorothy was an active lifetime member of the United Methodist Church in Forty Fort and then in Grove City, where she participated in United Methodist Women's Association, serving on many committees, projects and community outreach programs. She was also a member of the Grove City Historical Society.
Her husband, Robert, of Grove City, survives her and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, three brothers, Harold, Gerald and Earl Dick, preceded Dorothy in death.

Calling hours: From 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Friday (4-26-19) in CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME INC., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City.
Service: Funeral will be at 12 p.m. Friday (4-26-19) in the funeral home, with the Rev. Willard Morse officiating.
Burial: Crestview Memorial Park Inc.

Uncle Bob I feel so sorry for your loss of your lifelong wife and friend. I cherish the memories of my early life and when I visited you and Dorothy in fortyFort with mom, dad and grandma . God bless you and may he give you strength through this episode in your life.
