Dorothy Elizabeth Gibson Dorothy Elizabeth Gibson, 87, of Burghill, Ohio, died on Monday, Dec. 3, 2018, at St. Joseph Health Center in Warrren, Ohio, surrounded by her family.
She was born on July 26, 1931, in New Castle, a daughter of Helen (Lanko) Mundziak and Frank Mundziak.
Dorothy was a 1950 graduate of New Castle High School where she led the band as drum majorette. She graduated from cosmetology school.
While in New Castle, she played violin in the New Castle Symphony Orchestra.
On Sept. 2, 1950, she married her lifetime sweetheart from the age of 16, Robert Arthur Gibson.
She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kinsman, and she volunteered with the Buckeye Riders 4-H Horse Club along with her husband, Art.
Dorothy was an incredible cook and baker; and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting and gardening. She was an avid bird watcher and known by family as "the bird lady of Burghill."
Dorothy and Art's greatest joy was being second parents to their grandchildren, Katie and Matt.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Joseph Strokey; her loving husband of 53 years, Art Gibson; her sister, Mary Cole; and her brother, Joseph S. Mundziak.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathleen A. (Jim) Crouse Bacorn of Cortland, Ohio, and Carol Lee (Brian) Palumbo of Burghill; three grandchildren, Matthew R. (fiancee, Shelly Loze) Weakley, Aubree Kate (Jeremy) Sherbourne and Dustin E. Palumbo; three great-grandchildren, Adelyn Rose Sherbourne, Joshua Sherbourne, and Sinopa Palumbo.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Friday (12-7-18) at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 6397 State Route 87, Kinsman, Ohio, with the Rev. Michael A. Mikstay, CAPT. CHC USN Ret., officiating.
Burial: All Souls Cemetery, Bazetta, Ohio.
