Doris Jeanette "Hugger" Snell, of Hermitage, formerly of Mercer, died at 3:17 a.m., Monday, Feb. 19, 2018, in Vitas of Brookdale, Jacksonville, Fla., after a brief illness. She was 87.
Doris was born Sept. 1, 1930, in Butler, a daughter of William Boofer and Aletha (Early) Boofer.
She was a homemaker and attended Grace Chapel Community Church, Hermitage.
Doris enjoyed gardening, coloring, word games, sewing, crazy quilting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Vasconi and her husband David of Hermitage, and Vickie Willingham and her husband Mel of Jacksonville, Fla.; fours sons, James Geibel and his wife Joann of Butler, Jeffery Geibel and his wife Arlene of Jacksonville, Fla., Samuel Geibel and his wife Cindy of West Sunbury, Pa., and Marcus Geibel of Butler; a sister, Linda Claypoole of Slippery Rock; 30 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert Snell; a daughter, Hannah Hunter; two grandsons, Tony Snow and David Johnson; a granddaughter, Jenny McCune; a great-granddaughter, Belle Arney; three sisters, Jane Spiker, Peggy Bowser and Pearl Claypoole, and three brothers, Benjamin, John and Arthur Boofer.
