Donald "Don" Minshull, Jackson Center, passed away peacefully of natural causes at home with his family by his side at 9:15 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2017. He was 90.
Born Sept. 28, 1926, in Jackson Center, he was a son of Arthur and Hannah Elizabeth Brennan Minshull.
He was a 1944 graduate of Stoneboro High School.
Mr. Minshull was a machinist at Sharon Westinghouse for 38 years and retired in 1984.
He was a member of the Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church for more than 65 years.
Don loved dancing. He was an avid bowler and was inducted into the Mercer County Bowling Hall of Fame. He also enjoyed golfing, bird hunting and pitching horseshoes or any other type of games. He liked using his metal detector and digging for treasures and bottles. He was a talented craftsman and produced many beautiful pieces of furniture made out of willow branches. He also loved the family trip every year to Nags Head, and always referred to their house as "the mixed nuts."
Don was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran and served aboard the USS Alshain in the Pacific.
His wife of 68 years, the former Mary Lou Shaw, whom he married June 18, 1949, survives at home.
Also surviving are four children, Karen L. (Charles ) Mowry of Sandy Lake, Donna L. (David) Maxwell, of Grove City, Alan Curtis (Janene) Minshull of Stoneboro and Lisa A. (Burt) Brocklehurst of Jackson Center; 10 grandchildren: Kari L. (Timothy) Stafford, Erin E. (Kirk) Anderson, Charles B. Mowry, all of Sandy Lake, Randall W. Schweinsberg of Pittsburgh, Hanna Maxwell (Dr. Ralph Downey) of Cleveland, Bowen Maxwell (Cathy Gilliland) of Grove City, Stephanie (Ryan) Mittelmeier, Philip Minshull, all of Stoneboro, and Bronwyn and Burton Brocklehurst of Jackson Center; and seven great-grandchildren: Taylor Anderson, Tyler Greggs, Grace and Brenna Mowry, BellaEvaudia Altman, Willow Maxwell and Roman Mittelmeier.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Evelyn Hamilton, Annie Curry and Dorothy Minshull; and five brothers: Arnold, Stanley, Fred, Norman and Reginald Minshull.

Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday (8-26-17) in Sandy Lake Presbyterian Church, 3461 Sandy Lake-New Lebanon Road, Sandy Lake, with the Rev. Beth Creekpaum officiating.
Interment: Zion Cemetery, Worth Township.
