Donald R. Leax, 83, of Sandy Creek Township, passed away on Oct. 25, 2017.
He was born in Wilkins Township, Allegheny County, on July 27, 1934, a son of the late Paul and Marie (Downes) Leax.
He married the former Lyrel Jane Hahn in 1954. She passed away in 1968. He married the former Mary Micsky in June 1970. She passed away in 2001. He married the former Sue Ann Garner in September 2005. She passed away in 2007.
He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1954 and the Air Force in 1966 and served for 22 1/2 years before working for the Bessemer Railroad.
He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Greenville, Sheakleyville United Methodist Church in Sheakleyville, and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermarkers and Blacksmiths as well as the Commodore Perry Lions.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, gardening, hunting, fishing, traveling and flying his own plane.
He is survived by his children, Edward Leax (Lydia) of Hermitage, Gary Leax of Seattle, Wash., Gary Micsky (Brenda) of Greenville, Vicki Micsky of Greenville, and Pamela Scabilloni ( John) of Seven Fields; seven grandchildren, Brian and Susan Micsky, William, Nicholas and Elizabeth Scabillon and Marissa and Maynilla Grudowski. He is also survived by a special friend, Laura Thompson of Greenville, whose companionship and friendship he enjoyed.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna; two brothers, Paul and Carl Leax; and two sisters, Betty Regis and Labethia M. Fencemaker.
