Dominic 'Mac''s Story
Dominic Charles "Mac" Chutz, 95, of Slippery Rock passed away at 9:10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2017, in Grove City Medical Center, following a brief illness.
He was born in New Castle on June 4, 1922, to Leonard E. and Rose Chutz.
Mac was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He married Molly (Carmella Molly) Bonace on Jan. 4, 1946; she preceded him in death on April 9, 2000.
Mac retired as an owner/operator in the mining industry. His career began in partnership with his brothers operating Chutz Brothers Coal. He later owned and operated Chutz Contracting among other companies.
Mac was keen minded and had great energy and enthusiasm. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards with friends, and he was a voracious reader.
Survivors include: a daughter, Diane L. Bell (Jeff) of Grove City; three sons, Robert M. Chutz (Ralphie) of Slippery Rock; David Charles Chutz (Penny) of Harrisville; and Donald R. Chutz (Beth Yoest) of Renfrew, Pa; four grandchildren, Robert, Theresa, Justin, and Carley; a special friend, Verna Allen of Slippery Rock; and four great-grandchildren, Dominic, Maddox, Alylah, and Johnny.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

Visitation: 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday (8-11-17) in SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock.
Service: Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Saturday (8-12-17) in St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 670 S. Main St., Slippery Rock.
Interment: Crestview Memorial Park, Pine Township.
