David G. Magee

David G. Magee, 75, a lifetime resident of Grove City, passed on Monday, April 8, 2019 in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie, following a three-year illness.
Dave was born on Dec. 3, 1943, in Grove City to George H. and Grace Alice (McArthur) Magee. He married Carol L. Bice on May 23, 1964; she survives at home.
Dave was a 1961 graduate of Grove City High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968 to 1970. He received two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.
He retired in 2000 from Cooper Energy Services, where he was a traffic manager for 39 years.
Dave was a member of American Legion Post 220 and of VFW Post 519, where he formerly served as the post adjutant. He was a former Grove City volunteer fireman.
Dave enjoyed hunting and racing cars at Mercer Raceway Park, Lernerville Speedway and Tri-City Raceway Park.
He loved all animals and doing gardening work.
In addition to his wife Carol, he is survived by four sisters-in-laws, Ann Montgomery, Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; Jo Ella Hodge, Grove City; Mary Ellen Pearson and husband Dean, and Sandy Bice, both of Harrisville; two brothers-in-laws, Harold Bice Jr., Erie, and Robert Reddinger, N.C.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
