David J. George, 77, of Elyria, Ohio, formerly of Grove City, passed peacefully on Friday morning, May 11, 2018, in Main Street Care Center, Avon Lake, Ohio, following a lengthy illness.
David was born in Grove City on March 4, 1941, to Lester P. and Rita E. (McGinty) George. He married Carol E. Rodgers on May 25, 1968. Sshe survives at home.
David was a graduate of Grove City High School in 1959 and served is the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964.
He retired from Ford Motor Co., Avon Lake, where he was as assembler for 35 years. David began his career with Ford in Metuchen, N.J., where he was employed for seven years and then moved his family to Medina, Ohio, for the next 24 years.
David was a member of The Church of The Beloved Disciple, Grove City.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by three sons, Shawn D. George and his wife, Tami, of Minooka, Ill., Cris George of Wellington, Ohio, and Troy George and his wife, Sharon, of Maumee, Ohio; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Rosalee George; and two nieces.
His parents, and a brother, Paul L. George, preceded David in death.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Church of The Beloved Disciple.

Service: Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday (5-15-18) at The Church of The Beloved Disciple, 1310 S. Center St. Ext., Grove City, with Fr. Michael Allison as celebrant.
Burial: Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
