Daniel "Dan"'s Story
Daniel Peter "Dan" Wensel, of Hermitage, died at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday (10-24-17) at St. John XXIII Home, Hermitage, after a brief battle with cancer. He was 73.
Dan was born Feb. 25, 1944, in Sharon to Carl and Mary Ann (Ginther) Wensel.
He was a 1963 graduate of Hickory High School.
He worked at National Castings in Sharon for 18 years; at Boak & Sons as a roofer for over 20 years; and delivered papers in the Sharon area.

Dan was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of Scottish Rite in New Castle; Kedron Lodge 389; Shenango Valley Clusters; Farrell Saxon Club; and the roofers' union.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, traveling, cutting trees, cooking, game dinners, and going to the farm of his uncle in St. Marys, Pa. for the summers. He spent winters in Largo, Fla., with wife and cousin Barbara (Roy) Zullinger.
Dan was the first to offer help to family, friends or unknown persons that needed help, and was a friend to all who knew him. His smile and blue eyes will always be remembered. Dan was such a beautiful soul, always making jokes, eating all the food and making sure there was none left behind. He always knew how to get a smile out of everyone with his witty jokes. He was truly an exceptional person who touched all, and was always the fun person to be around. He will be missed dearly.
