Clair Eugene Winger Jr., 62, of Mercer, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 1, 2017 in Sharon Regional Medical Center after a month-long illness.
Known by his family and friends as Butch, Gene or Clair, he was born in Grove City on Aug. 4, 1955, to Clair Eugene and Patricia A. (Bain) Winger.
Clair was raised in the Methodist faith, attended Mercer High School and graduated from Valley Forge Military Academy and Valley Forge Junior College. He was honorably discharged from U.S. Army.
M and D Paving Contractors employed Clair for the past 18 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 159, Mercer.
Clair enjoyed his life and spending time with his friends.
His parents, Gene and Pat Winger; a brother, Sam Winger and wife, Jen; a brother-in-law, Dr. Richard Shelestak, all of Mercer; two nieces; and a nephew survive him.
His grandparents and his sister, Terri L. Shelestak, preceded him in death.

Service: Funeral at 10 :30 a.m. Wednesday (12-6-17) at the funeral home, with Pastor Willard Morse officiating.
Burial: Mount Washington Cemetery.
