Christopher's Story

Christopher D. Turner Sr., 54, of Grove City, passed on Saturday evening, Nov. 18, 2017, in his home following an extended illness.
Chris was born in Grove City to Raymond G. and Ethel J. (Ward) Turner, Sr. He married Ida Hochstein on Nov. 2, 1983, in Johnstown.
He worked at Traco, Cranberry, prior to an accident that resulted in him being disabled. Later he became a paid bell ringer for the Salvation Army until he could no longer work.
Chris was a witty individual who was a fan of the 49ers. The only "black and gold" team he supported was the Pittsburgh Passion. He enjoyed fishing and loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Ida L. Turner, at home; a son, Christopher D. (Leane) Turner Jr., of Grove City; a daughter, Tina L. (Victor Jr.) Blake, of Mercer; his mother, Ethel (companion Rick) Turner, of Mercer; five brothers, Gary L. (Roxanne) Ward; Ray (companion Betsy) Turner Jr., both of Grove City; Carl R. (Kimberley) Turner; Michael J. Turner; both of Mercer; Joseph (Kelly) Turner, of Hubert, N.C.; and a brother-in-law Jeffery Willis, of Williston, N.C.; four step grandchildren, Tina M.; Victor III; Cheyenne; Charity Blake; two grandchildren, Holly and Amy Blake; and two step-great-grandchildren.
His grandparents; father; a sister, Wanda J. Willis; and several aunts, uncles and cousins preceded Chris in death.
The family of Christopher D. Turner Sr. wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses of VNA Alliance and the team at Kindred Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to help the family with expenses.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday (11-25-17) in the First Church of God, 1333 W. Main St., Grove City, with pastors Gene and Amy Worline officiating.
