Charles Minor Carthorn Jr., of Farrell, died at 2:32 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017, in his residence. He was 67.
Mr. Carthorn was born in Warren, Ohio, a son of Charles M. Carthorn and Lila Grant Carthorn Denson.
He graduated from Sharon High School in 1967 and attended Indian River College in Florida.
Charles retired from PennDOT in 1998 after 18 years as a truck driver, where he was known as "Stretch" on the job.
He is survived by his lifelong companion of 31 years, Rose Bennett, Farrell; five sons, Russell Bennett (Landy), Akron; Eddie Gamble (Renee), Virginia Beach, Va.; Dezmon Bennett (Minnette), Farrell; Charles Carthorn III (Aleta), Pittsburgh; and Buddy Root, Sharon; two sisters, Mary D. Jones, Carlisle, Pa.; and Vickie Malone, Sharon; a brother, William D. Carthorn, Pittsburgh; 16 grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepfather, Fred Denson; his mother-in-law, Louise Bennett; a son, William "Sweet Pea" Carthorn; and a daughter, Leslie B. Carthorn.

Service: 11 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, with eulogist the Rev. Patricia Tatum, pastor of New Covenant Church in Sharon, and officiant, the Rev. Donald Campbell, presiding.
Interment: Oakwood Cemetery, Hermitage.
