Carolyn 'Carol''s Story
Carolyn "Carol" Vale Priester, 72, of Mercer, passed away surrounded by loving family on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Carolyn was born in Stoneboro (Lake Township), Mercer County, on July 21, 1945, to Harry Floyd "Butch" and Caroline Teresa McAnallen Greggs.
She married George J Priester on Dec. 21, 1963. He preceded her in death in 2015.
She had been a homemaker most of her life. She worked at the Iron Bridge Inn and later at Countryside Convalescent Home from which she retired. She attended White Chapel United Methodist Church, New Wilmington.
"She genuinely loved people, never met a stranger, and was happiest when she could cook and feed others."
She enjoyed attending the senior center in Sandy Lake and was active with the auxiliary of the Children's Aid Society in Mercer.
Carolyn is survived by three daughters, Sharon L. Priester (Duane Davis) of New Wilmington; Lisa R. Guntrum (David) of Grove City; Michelle D. Sizer (Jim) of New Castle; sister, Norma Neal of Butler; brother, Donald Greggs (Carol) of Polk; six grandchildren, Kara Gilliland (Joe), Emily and Jacob Sizer, Kaily Priester, Perry Davis (Nikki), Josh Davis; and three great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Richard Dean; grandson, Michael Alan; and brother, Harry Richard Gregg.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Aid Society of Mercer, 350 W. Market St., Mercer, or the White Chapel United Methodist Church, 415 New Castle Mercer Road, New Wilmington, PA 16142.

Calling hours: From 4 to 8 p.m. Friday (8-25-17) and from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday (8-26-17) at SMITH FUNERAL HOME, Village of Leesburg, 1778 Perry Hwy., Volant.
Service: Funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday (8-26-17) at the funeral home, with Pastor Gary Sheesley of the Which Chapel Church presiding.
Interment: Crestview Memorial Park, Grove City.
