Bonita's Story

Bonita L. Hogue, 86, of Sharpsville, passed away at John XXIII, Hermitage, at 4:30 a.m. Monday (Feb. 5, 2018) after a brief illness.
She was born in her family home in Mercer on May 27, 1931, to William F. and Bertha Strosser Jennings. Bonita married Donald Rae Hogue on Oct. 22, 1952; he died on July 31, 1988.
She was formerly employed at the A&P in Mercer as a clerk, and then she went to work at Dean Dairy for 34 years as a production manager. Bonita retired at the age of 72.
Bonita was one of the founding members of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Mercer.
She attended the Greenville Road School House "one room" and then attended Mercer High School.
Bonita enjoyed being with her family.
Bonita is survived by: four children, Deborah A., wife of Ronald Nickel, of Sharpsville, Jeffrey D. Hogue of Hermitage, Diane M. Cusick and her companion Scott Addison of Meadville, and John W. Hogue and his wife, Melinda, of Sharpsville; one sister, Rosemary McKenna of Mercer; one brother, William C. Jennings of Mercer; one brother-in-law, Donald Kremm of Greenville. She is also survived by: 13 grandchildren, Christopher and Rachel Nickel, Cari and Matthew Bucher, Ryan and Deborah Hogue, Jessica and Timothy Check, Roxann and Zach Hudock, Chelsea Cusick, Dylan and Braden Hogue; seven great-grandchildren, Wilson, Grace and Woodrow Nickel, Xander and Carter Hogue and Rory and Hallie Check; and her nieces and nephews.
Bonita was preceded in death by: her parents; husband; one sister, Lois Kremm; one brother-in-law, Charles McKenna; one sister-in-law, Cheryl Jennings; and one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Hogue.

Calling hours: 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday (2-7-18) at CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME INC., 144 S. Pitt St., Mercer.
Service: 10 a.m. Thursday (2-8-18) at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 100 Penn Ave., Mercer, with Father Richard Allen of Notre Dame officiating.
Burial: All Saints Cemetery, Jefferson Township.
